Jammu pronunciation is the largest city in the Jammu Division and the winter capital of Indian administered state of Jammu and Kashmir and situated on the banks of Tawi river. It is a municipal corporation. Jammu is also known as the “City of Temples” owing to the number of historical temples and domes of old mosques located within the city. By Air:-
Jammu airport is well connected with many major airports in the country, including Delhi, Srinagar and Leh. Almost all air service providers operate regular flights from Jammu.
By Train:-
The major railway station in Jammu is Jammu Tawi. Jammu Tawi is connected to all major cities in India like Delhi (Jammu Rajdhani), Kolkata (Himgir Exp), Mumbai (Swarak Exp), Chennai (Andaman Exp) and even to the the southern most Trivandrum Railway station (Himsagar Exp).
By Bus:-
Jammu is well connected by bus services. It is connected to many neighboring cities through private tourist buses including Manali (Rs 1,500), Shimla (Rs 1,500), Amritsar (Rs 900), Ludhiana (Rs 1,200) and Delhi. Delhi to Jammu is about 684 km and tourist deluxe buses charge about Rs 2,000.

Bahu Fort:–
Bahu Fort is among the popular sightseeing attractions of the city of Jammu, which was built by Raja Bahulochan over 3,000 years ago. The fort was later restored during the 19th century by the Dogra rulers. Other notable attractions of the fort include Bahu Temple, a shrine dedicated to Goddess Kali.
Nandini Wildlife Sanctuary:-
Nandini Wildlife Sanctuary is a popular site among wildlife enthusiasts that houses various species of pheasants. The reserve was established in an area of thick forests along with wildlife and is situated 28 km from Jammu.
Sanasar:-
Sanasar is among the major attractions, which is located at a distance of 19 km from Patnitop. The site at an altitude of 2,079 metres above sea level provides a peaceful environment. The site is also known as mini Gulmarg and is surrounded by huge conifers.
Amar Mahal Museum:-
Amar Mahal Museum is a popular tourist attraction, which served as the family residence of the Dogra Dynasty. The palace was built by King Raja Amar of the Dogra Dynasty during 1890 using red sand stone.Planned and designed by a French architect, the architectural marvel was converted into a museum exhibiting a rich collection of paintings, books, inscriptions and artefacts.
Shiv Khori:-
Shiv Khori is one of the important cave shrines of Jammu, which is famous for the natural formation of a shivalinga. The 150 metres long shrine is among the most respected cave shrines of Lord Shiva in Jammu.
Bagh-e-Bahu:-
Bagh-e-Bahu is one of the popular sightseeing attractions of Jammu located along the ancient fort of Bahu. The beautiful garden is laid identical to Mughal Garden and is situated on the embankment of Tawi River.
Dogra Art Museum:-
Dogra Art Museum is a famous art repository situated in the Mubarak Mandi Complex. This historic gallery is presently located in the Pink Hall, which houses over 800 rare paintings and articles of historical significance. There are separate galleries, where paintings from Basholi, Jammu and Kangra schools have been displayed.
Raghunath Mandir :-
Raghunath Mandir is a popular religious shrine located in the city of Jammu. The shrine, dedicated to Lord Rama, was commissioned by Maharaja Gulab Singh, founder of the Kingdom of Jammu and Kashmir in 1835. The construction of the temple was completed by his son Maharaja Ranbir Singh in 1860.
Peer Kho Cave Temple :-
Peer Kho Cave Temple is one of the sacred cave temples in the region, which is dedicated to Lord Shiva. The cave temple, also known as Jamwant Cave, is enshrined with the svayambhu shivalinga.
Surinsar Lake :-
Surinsar Lake is located at a distance of 24 km from Jammu and is linked with Mansar. The beautiful lake is situated in the midst of thick forests with hilly terrains in the backdrop.The lotus flower blossoms are the major attractions of the water body. As per myths, legendary warrior Arjuna, of Mahabharata, shot an arrow to the Mansar land, which pierced the earth at a site known as Surinsar.
Mansar Lake:-
Mansar Lake is one of the popular attractions of Jammu, which is surrounded by forest covered hills. On the eastern bank of Mansar Lake, there is the Sheshnag Temple housing a figure of a snake with six heads. The water body is associated with a mythological legend, therefore is frequented by tourists and devotees alike.
Ranbireshwar Temple:-
Ranbireshwar Temple is one of the popular religious centres of the destination, which was constructed in 1883 by Maharaja Ranbir Singh. The temple dedicated to Lord Shiva comprises two halls decorated with the images of Ganesha and Kartikeya. There are several shivalingas in the shrine along with a Nandi Bull.
Dargah Garib Shah :-
Dargah Garib Shah is one of the holy centres in the region situated at Samba. The ancient shrine is dedicated to the spiritual leader Garib Shah, who preached doctrines of humanity to his disciplines. Dargah Garib Shah draws devotees from different religious backgrounds round the year.
Amarnath:-
Perched at an altitude of 4175 m above sea level, Amarnath is one of the most revered pilgrimage sites, located at a distance of 145 km from Srinagar. Tucked away in the mighty Himalayas, Amarnath enshrines a natural Shivling, made of ice.

Jammu offers the combination of traditional as well as modern shopping. The famous market of “Raghunath Bazaar†is very popular among the tourists/ pilgrims as it is right in the heart of Jammu city. Named after the famous Raghunath Temple, this market is right next to the Raghunath Temple in Jammu. Some of the most liked restaurants in the adjoining Residency Road provide food ranging from the simple to the exotic.
FOOD:-
Residency Road and Vir Marg are the two places where you will get the most options to eat fast food or multi-cuisine. You get Kashmiri cuisine in a number of restaurants, stalls and cafes. Eateries specializing in Chinese cuisine can be found near Nehru Park. Other eating options are Garden Cafes, Bakeries and the many inexpensive restaurants. Almost all the hotels have their own restaurants that serve Kashmiri, Indian and Continental cuisine.
