Chatra

Chatra district is one of the twenty-four districts of Jharkhand state, India, and Chatra is the administrative headquarters of this district. The district covers an area of 3706 km². It has a population of 790,680 (Census 2001).

HOW TO REACH

By Rail:-

But the joy of food in Kolkata is in its Indian foods. Nizam’s (at 23-24 Hogg Street), in New Market, is credited with the invention of the famous Kati Kebab roll and still serves up the best of the best. For Mughlai dishes the best place is ‘Arsalan’. It has few branches across the city, the fanous being at Park Circus 7 point crossiing.

By Air:-
The site selection for aerodrome is presently under process. At present, Chatra is not connected by airwa nearest aerodrome is Gaya (International Airport) , Ranchi and Hazaribagh.

By bus:-
Chatra can be approached from Gaya Railway station of Bihar. The boundaries of Chatra district on Gaya. Chatra is at Gosaindih about 40 Kms from Chatra. Chatra is approachable from Koderma Railway station via Barhi, Chauparan, Itkhori distant at about 100 Kms. Chatra is approachable from Ranchi via Chandwa in Balumath in Latehar district . Therail – line will pass through the Chatra district when Koderma -Ranchi via Hazaribagh railway line is completed and it will touch three major villages of the district namely Majhgain , Bandgaon and Ratarua .

WHAT TO SEE

 

Gua:-

Gua-waterfalls-300x225Gua is a small census town in the district, which is famous for a waterfall, situated approximately 6 km from Chatra town, while travelling towards Maloodah. This waterfall falls down from a height of 30 ft and is covered with rocks on all the three sides. In the middle of the waterfall, there is a reservoir or stream, where people take dip on every Monday during the Shravan month.

 

 

 

Gogri:-

GogriGogri is a small waterfall in the region, which can be reached through a steep stream flowing nearby. This waterfall is about 4 miles to the west of Chatra, while going towards Maloodah.

 

 

 

 

Duari:-

DuariDuari is also called as Balbal Duari and is located on the main Gidhaur-Katkam Sandi Road. This place is about 35 km away from Chatra and can be easily reached from Hazaribagh. Travelling to Duari during monsoon season is very difficult and it can be ideally visited during the summer and winter seasons. Duari is essentially a hot water spring, which is situate very close to the Balbal village and has some medicinal properties in its water to cure skin diseases. During Makar Sankranti, people gather here to take holy dip in the water to relieve themselves from skin diseases.

 
Bichkiliya:-

Bichkiliya Bichkiliya is a water reservoir, which is situated on the banks of Lilangen River and is around 11 km from Chatra. Tourists can take jeeps or other private vehicle up to 5 km and rest 6 km has to be covered by foot.

 

 

 

 

Kauleshwari Devi Temple:-

Kauleshwari Devi Temple

Kauleshwari Devi temple is situated on the top of the Kolhua Hill, which has an idol of Goddess Kauleshwari Devi. This temple is believed to have been built around 150 years ago by the Jains, who considered it to be the birth place of the tenth Jain Tirthankara, Sitala Swami. There is a small cave near this temple, which has an image of Pasarvanath. This image of Pasarvanath has a hood over his head, which resembles the hoods of various snakes. Tourists can also see the Dhyani Mudra image of Pasarvanath, who was the 23rd Jain Tirthankara. There is another cave next to this cave, from where three Jain images were transferred to Gaya. The location of the temple provides a clear view of the surrounding hills and several animal and bird species.

 

Keridah:-

Keridah Keridah is a waterfall, which is situated 8 km away from Chatra town and can be easily reached by private vehicle. It is divided into three parts that are situated between two hill rocks.

 

 

 

 

Dumer Sumer:-

Dumer SumerDumer Sumer is a famous waterfall in the region, which is located around 12 km north of Chatra. The initial 10 km can be travelled by vehicle and the rest 2 km has to be reached by foot.
