The city of Kanpur enjoys good connectivity via flights, railways, and roadways. The city falls on the itinerary of the North Central Railways and is linked by regular and direct railway services to majority of the cities in India.

By Air:-
There is a small airport in Kanpur. This airport offers a limited number of flights. Flights are only available from Air India for major cities like Kolkata and New Delhi. The closest international airport in the neighborhood is the Lucknow International Airport.

By Rail:-
Indian Railways services join the city of Kanpur to other major cities like Mumbai, Delhi, Chennai, Kolkata, Bangalore, Hyderabad, Indore, Ahmedabad, Farrukhabad, Bhopal, Jamshedpur, Jabalpur, Jaipur, Srinagar, Gwalior, Gorakhpur, Jalgaon, Mahoba, Pune, Durg, Lucknow, Surat, and Nagpur.

By Road:-
Kanpur has good accessibility via roadways. Both National Highway 2 and National Highway 25 moves by the city. Other national highways that run across Kanpur are National Highway 86, National Highway 25, and National Highway 91. There are two main bus terminals in the city. The most significant bus terminal of the city is Jhakarkati bus terminal. A number of Volvo buses and coaches, particularly Royal Cruiser plies to places like Jaipur, New Delhi, and Agra.

Dwarka Dhish Temple:-

Dedicated to Krishna, this temple is even situated near the Kamla Tower. The sravan jhoola contributes to the attraction of the temple.

 

 

 

 

 

Jain Glass Temple:-

Located in Maheshwari Mohal near Kamla Tower, this beautiful temple is known for its enamel works and glass decoration.

 

 

 

 

 

Mecca Masjid:-

Located at a distance of just 15 kms from the city, this is one of the famous mosques in Kanpur.

 

 

 

 

 

Shri Radhakrishna Temple:-

Shri Radhakrishna Temple or J. K. Temple is an architectural delight because of its unique blend of old and modern architecture. The temple has got 5 shrines, out of which the middle one is dedicated to Radha-Krishna, while the others are meant for Ardhanarishwar, Hanuman, Laxminarayan and Narmadeshwar.

 

 

 

Kanpur Memorial Church:-

Even known as All Soul’s Cathedral, this church dates back to the year 1875. Made of red brick, this church reflects the gothic architectural style of Lombard. Built in memory of the British, who sacrifices their lives in the 1857 war, this church houses a Memorial Garden.

 

 

 

Bithoor:-

This place is famous as a pilgrimage of Hindu religion. Situated at a distance of 20 kms from Kanpur, this site is even known as “Brahmvart”. It is believed that Manu and Satrupa were created there. Apart from that, the places are said to be associated with the Hindu Epic “Ramayana” since, Maharshi Balmiki wrote the epic there and even it was the birth place of Lav and Kush. Bithoor has even witnessed the childhood days of Maharani Laxmi Bai as well as the works of freedom fighters Azimullah Khan, Nanarao Peshwa, Mainavati and Tatya Tope. Nanarao Fort is a part of this historical site of Bithoor.

 

 

Jajmau:-

Located towards the east of the city, this place was known as Siddhapuri in historical times. Dating back to 600 B.C. to 1600 A.D., this site houses Makhdum Shah Ala-ul-Haq’s mausoleum, a mosque of 1679 as well as temples of Siddhnath and Siddhadevi.

 

 

 

 

Boodha Bargad:-

This Banyan tree is historically significant because this is where 144 Indian citizens were hanged during the Rebellion of 1857 in India.

 

 

 

 

 

 

Agricultural Gardens:-

This beautiful garden is home to a number of botanical species. This garden is situated in Kanpur’s Nawab Ganj.

 

 

 

 

 

Allen Forest Zoo:-

Inaugurated in the year 1971, this zoo is even famously known as the Kanpur Zoo. Being one of the best zoological gardens of the country, this place is ideal for picnics and day-outs in a picturesque surrounding.

 

 

 

 

Brijendra Swaroop Park:-

This big park has spacious play grounds and lawns. Aryanagar of Kanpur is known for housing this park.

 

 

 

 

 

Nana Rao Park:-

This park was the site of 1857’s Bibighar, which was named as Nana Rao Park post India’s independence.

 

 

 

 

 

Phool Bagh:-

Located on the Mall Road in the city centre, this garden is presently named as Ganesh Udyan for housing Ganesh Shanker Vidyarthi Memorial in the central position of the park. This memorial building, even known as K. E. M. Hall houses a hospital of orthopaedic rehabilitation since the end of World War I. Apart from this, the park has got a huge public library and a summer house. Annual flower exhibitions are held there.

 

 

Massacre Ghat:-

Situated in the cantonment area of Kanpur, this ghat lies on the river Ganga’s right bank. This ghat has even got historical significance because of the location of the terrible massacre of 1857’s Mutiny. Initially known as Satti Chura Ghat, this place has been renamed in Nana Saheb Peshwa’s memory as Nana Rao Ghat.

 

 

 

Moti Jheel:-

Based in Benajhabar, this jheel is reservoir of drinking water in the city. Managed by Kanpur Waterworks, this water body is surrounded by beautiful children park and recreation ground.
Sarsaiyya Ghat
This is one of the holy ghats located on the banks of the Ganga, the sacred river in India.
