Jodhpur the sun city is the second largest city of Rajasthan. It is also know as the blue city, due the lovely houses painted with blue colour. Sun can be seen here in every season so it is also called Sun city. The city is divided into tow parts the old city & the new city. Old city is worth visiting due the old Rajasthani have lies, mansion, temples and markets, it is covered by 10km long wall. The new city has markets, restaurants, multiplexes. HOW TO REACH

By Air :-
There are daily flights to Delhi via Jaipur & to Mumbai via Udaipur. The city airport is just 5 kms away from the old city.

By Rail :-
There are few express trains to/from Jodhpur. The Jodhpur-Jaisalmer Express leaves every night at 11:15 PM & arrives Jaisalmer at 5:05 AM, the same returns to Jodhpur at 11:15 PM & reaches at 5:15 AM. The Mandore Express leaves Jodhpur at 7:30 PM 7 arriving in Delhi at 6:30 AM. The Intercity Express leaves to Jaipur at 5:45 AM & reaches at 10:30 AM.

By Road :-
There frequent deluxe & express buses in every 30 minutes from Jaipur, & regular buses from Udaipur, Ajmer, Bikaner, Delhi, Jaisalmer & Ahmedabad.

 

WHAT TO SEE

Ummed Bhawan:-

The palace was built by 3000 artisans consuming one million square feet of the finest marble. Ever since its opening in 1977, Umaid Bhawan has been one of the most celebrated and luxurious heritage hotels in Rajasthan. The Umaid Bhavan Palace is renowned for the sandstone used in its construction. The Palace is also known as Chittar Palace for the exceptional Chittar sandstone used in its construction.

 

 

 

Jaswant Thada:-

Jaswant ThadaThe Jaswant Thada is architecural landmark found in Jodhpur. It is a white marble memorial built in 1899 in memory of Maharja Jaswant Singh II. The monument, in its entirety, is built out of intricately carved sheets of marble. These stones are extremely thin and polished so that they emit a warm glow when the sun’s rays dance across their surface. Within this cenotaph, there are also two more tombs.

 

 

 

Mehrangarh Fort:-

Mehrangarh-Fort-JodhpurMehrangarh Fort is one of the largest forts in India. Mehrangarh means Majestic Fort, it . Though the fort was originally started by Rao Jodha, founder of Jodhpur, in 1459, most of the fort which stands today dates from the period of Jaswant Singh (1638-78). This magnificent fort is located at the centre of the city spreading over 5km atop a 125m high hill. Its walls, which are up to 36m high and 21m wide protect some of the most beautiful and historic palaces in Rajasthan. To commemorate historic victories three gates are found in the fort.

 

 

Osiyan Temple:-

osian-templeIt is an ancient temple, well worth the visit, in the village of Osiyan. There are many sections of this temple, and it has been developed in phases. About 60 K.M. drive from Jodhpur.

The Bandhani `tie-and-dye’ of Jamnagar is well known the world over. Apart from these, artifacts like Bangles with inlay of brass, Beetle nut crackers, agate paperweights; Kum kum, Kajal, Surma, ; brass covered wooden chests etc, are available at the Khadhi Bhandars around Hotel President.Modern articles can also be bought from around the city.  Easiest place to shop in Jamngar is the Super Market.One can easily spend a couple of hours exploring the lanes leading out from Lindi Bazaar & Chandi Bazaar.
